Six Weeks Grades:

Major grades:  50% Tests

Minor grades:   15% Assignments, 35% Quizzes

Practice is essential for success in Algebra II.  You will have an assignment almost every class period.  Use your class time wisely so that you will not have a lot of work to complete at home.  Assignments will be checked for accuracy during the course of the class period.  Because the assignments are considered practice work, your grade will be based on effort and completeness rather than on the number of correct answers.

Each assignment should:

  1. Be written in pencil on a clean sheet of paper.
  2. Have your name, date, and class period in the upper right corner.
  3. Have the assignment at the top of the first page.
  4. Have the problems written, diagrams drawn, and the work shown neatly.
  5. Be corrected in class with a pen.

Late Work Policy:

I will accept late work if it’s an assignment for the chapter we are currently working on.  For example, we are on Chapter 3, I will accept late work for Chapter 3, but if you try to turn in missing work from a previous Chapter I will not accept it.

1 day late: minus 10 points

2 days late: minus 20 points

3 days late: minus 30 points

4 or more days late: The most credit you will receive for that paper is a 50.

FYI:  If you are not completing your homework in a timely manner, then you will probably not do so great on your quizzes or tests.

Quizzes may not be announced. Most weeks we will have one or two quizzes.  If you miss a quiz, YOU are responsible for making arrangements to make up the quiz.     I will drop the lowest quiz grade if we have more than 4 quizzes during the six weeks.

You will typically have one or two tests per six weeks.

Tests will be announced several class periods in advance.  Missing the review day prior to the test does not excuse you from taking the test.  If you fail a test you will be given the opportunity to retake the test for a maximum grade of 70, if and only if:

            1.  YOU request the retake within 2 days of receiving a failing test grade.  If you do not show up during the time and date that we set for you to retake, the retake will not be allowed.  (Please note:  I will not chase you down and remind you)

            2.  You have corrected the test you failed.  Corrections must be complete and accurate.

            3.  I will set a deadline of when corrections must be completed by.  Deadline will be written on the board.  If you do not meet the deadline, then retake will not be allowed.

Do not wait until you are failing to get help!  If you need additional help, please come see me during 4th period advisory, after school or arrange a time to get help.

Please monitor your student’s grades using the parent portal.

A link to the parent portal can be found under the parent resource tab on the district website   I post grades every Friday.  You should receive a letter with your log-in information sometime during the first two weeks of school. Once you have signed into the parent portal you can adjust your settings so that you receive text alerts if your student receives a failing grade.
